Steven M PerezSteven Michael Perez was born in Smithtown, NY on September 16, 1973. He was raised in Melville, NY and attended Half Hollow Hills schools, graduating in 1991 from High School East.

Steven went on to attend the University at Albany, a branch of the State University of New York system. Graduating in 1995, Steven pursued his interest in the financial industry by becoming a stock broker and joining the firm, Millennium Securities. After five years, Steven moved on to the firm Continental Broker Dealer.

He enjoyed the New York City lifestyle, especially sampling the best of bars and restaurants in the company of his
siblings and close friends. His interests included spending quality time with friends, preparing meals for everyone,
and playing golf. Steven enjoyed traveling to destinations near and far, from the Hamptons to Las Vegas to the
Dominican Republic, he always surrounded himself with friends, family, and fun.

The fun-loving, light-hearted way in which he faced life was evident always from childhood through adulthood. Nobody could ever be angry with Steven. He ended every conversation on a light note and you walked away
with a smile regardless of his previous actions.

He was a terrific big brother to Dana, always encouraging her and supporting her dreams, psychologically and
emotionally. He was the best little brother to Rickey bringing his carefree spirit into Rickey's decision-making
process and fun into his everyday life, alwaysurging Rick to try just "one more appetizer" at every restaurant
they would go to. He tried to be the best brother-in-law to Rachel and enjoyed their golf dates and family dinners.

As a friend he was extraordinary. A tribute to him were the over 1,000 friends who came to say good-bye. He had the knack of keeping in touch with everyone. He remembered your name and the last time he saw you and could always recall an anecdote, which endeared him to you forever.

As a son he was great, especially when he reminded you that his were the best parents ever! He made us proud of him everyday by being an integral part of the family unit.

Steven's life was ALMOST perfect...

Diagnosed in June 2003 with CML, a rare form of leukemia, in the Blastcrisis stage, he quit his job, played golf, and had the biggest party his failing body would allow. On August 4, 2003, at the age of 29, Steven lost a 49 day battle with leukemia. He will be missed by all who knew him.
